At the Sharing Space in Somers Town Tanuja from Power Up North London was talking to local resident Tuli about energy saving at home. Coming from this discussion, the Light Fantastic in Somers Town project is aimed at addressing the climate crisis and the cost of living crisis through empowering residents to reduce energy use. Light Fantastic is a joint Think&Do and Power Up North London project.
The first part of the project will involve replacing standard light bulbs in the majority of the 151 flats in Walker House with LED light bulbs. It is estimated that replacing all the bulbs in a home with LED lights will save residents at least £40 pa, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 40Kg a year – equivalent in CO2 to driving 145 miles. Residents will be paid to embark upon an engagement campaign, sharing other energy saving tips.
Light Fantastic in Somers Town is sponsored by The Crick Institutes Community Chest and Troup Bywaters & Anders.
